You’ve got questions -we’ve got answers
Are there any age restrictions for tandem skydiving?
The minimum age to tandem skydive is 16 years old. For those aged between 16 and 18 years old, a parental/ guardian signature of consent is required on two forms. These forms will be provided upon booking. There is no maximum age to complete a tandem skydive provided you are fit and healthy.
Is there a weight restriction for tandem skydiving?
Yes, the maximum weight to complete a tandem skydive with us is 16 stone/ 100 kg.
Do you have to be fit to complete a tandem skydive?
All tandem students will be required to sign a British Skydiving Tandem Student Self-Declaration of Fitness form (115A). If you have any of the medical conditions or past injuries listed on form 115A, you will have to get form 115B signed and stamped by a doctor instead.
Certain medical conditions may prevent you from taking part in a tandem skydive. These include epilepsy, some cardiovascular and neurological conditions, and some forms of diabetes.
Can I jump with a disability?
Disabilities do not necessarily mean that you can’t complete a tandem skydive. Contact us to discuss your options with our Chief Instructor. We will do the best to accommodate your needs.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Skydiving is weather dependent. In accordance with British Skydiving rules and regulations, our team must operate within strict safety limitations with regards to cloud cover and wind speeds. If the weather is deemed unsuitable, you will be given the opportunity to re-schedule your booking for another time at your convenience.
How long will I have to wait to jump on the day?
We understand that it is helpful to know when you are likely to jump especially if you have friends and family coming to see you jump. We will be able to give you approximate time slots, however, please be advised that weather conditions can affect these. If your supporters are travelling separately, we usually advise that they aim to arrive 1 hour – 1.5 hours after your designated arrival time. When completing a tandem skydive, plan for an all-day activity.
What should I wear?
We will provide you with a jumpsuit to go over your clothes. We recommend wearing loose fitting and comfortable clothing (e.g. sportswear), with no hoods. Comfortable, flat shoes should be worn – sports trainers are the best option. Slip-on shoes, heels or boot with eyelet hooks are not suitable.
Can I jump if I wear contact lenses or glasses?
You will be issued with goggles that comfortably fit over glasses and help to keep contact lenses in place.
Do I need insurance?
The cost of your tandem skydive will automatically cover you for the British Skydiving third party insurance up to £5,000,000. If you wish to take out additional personal injury cover, there are plenty of companies that provide this service.
